Youth pathways
A step in the right direction
Youth Pathways (YP) is an initiative funded by DEST (Department of Education, Science and Training). YP aims to assist ‘at-risk’ young people 13-19 years to make a successful transition through to the completion of year 12 (or its equivalent), and ultimately to further education, training or employment and active participation in the community. This is achieved through one-on-one sessions with young people to provide support and advice, and through the identifi cation of individual barriers that are addressed to enable successful transition.
NMIT Youth Pathways case managers deliver personalised assistance to meet individual needs. Youth Pathways is a free program and is delivered either at school or at one of the NMIT campuses in the Northern suburbs. NMIT Northern Youth Pathways works in conjunction with 46 schools in the Northern Region of Melbourne.
