Looking for work

The following are great places to start looking for the job you want

Centrelink: here you can register for a Job Seeker Identifi cation Number (JSID), which lets you access the jobs on the touch screens. Just go to the counter and ask for a JSID.

Local Job Networks: these places offer job matching and Intensive Assistance (if you qualify). Job Networks match employment to people. They are really interested in what you want to do, so they can place you successfully in the job you like.

Handy Hint: Have a JSID number ready when you register with the Job Network

Friends, relatives & acquaintances: use the people you know and socialize with to find out whether there are any jobs available. It can often be easier finding work when you have connections in the industry.

Yellowpages/Whitepages: pick up the phone and ring places that you would be interested in working at. The more you contact the better.

Internet: you do not have to have the Internet at home; local libraries, employment agencies & schools have Internet access to check out employment sites.

Newspaper ads: the local paper is a good way to start.
